The Mazda engine mount is important for two reasons. First, the engine mount secures the engine on the chassis of the vehicle. It holds the engine, providing it stability. Hence, the engine does not bounce around under the every time the car is running. Second, the engine mount serves as suspension for the engine. As suspension component, the engine mount absorbs some of the engine vibration and noise. It prevents the engines from breaking down because of its own vibration. By absorbing engine vibration, the engine mount assures that the engine can optimally function. Too much vibration can cause engine knocking. Engine knocking is the premature ignition of the fuel. It occurs when the piston is not yet in the position for optimal power stroke. Consequently, energy is lost resulting in the reduction of engine output. Engine knocking is self-destructive to the engine.
Like other Mazda auto parts, Mazda engine mounts are available in aftermarket automotive stores. An engine mount can be bought as a complete set of padding, brackets, bolts, nuts, washers and frames. Most aftermarket engine mounts are equal in terms of quality to the original component. Some may even have greater quality than the original component. Choosing engine mounts should be based on the configuration of the engine so that perfect fit can be assured. An engine mount has padding that cushions the engine against vibration. Typically, rubber padding is used in engine mounts. However, rubber padding is sometimes not very resistant to heat. They may crack or even melt at extreme heat. The engine generates extreme amount of thermal energy. Hence, the Mazda engine mount padding should be highly resistant to heat.
